Kalamazoo Violin Choir aims to close the gap between young violinists and their communities. Using bold repertoire choices and multi‑sensory storytelling, we bring fresh tonal colors and unexpected textures to live music.

A signature of our performances is the Crankie box — a handcrafted moving‑panorama. Students create and scroll original illustrations as they play, transforming ordinary concerts into immersive, visual journeys. This low‑tech, high‑imagination magical method deepens audience connection and lets our narratives “soar” beyond sound alone!

Music can comfort, change, create, connect, and celebrate. Let’s make some music!

Our first year has been a delight, filled with amazing experiences and performances:

  • Spring (2025): Premiered at Kalamazoo Institute of Arts’ Art Hop and presented our first narrative concert at Trinity Lutheran, featuring the original tale “Someone Who Knew the World’s Songs.”

  • Fall (2025): Returned to Art Hop at the Jolliffe Theatre, performed “Someone’s Quest with the Mythical Friends” at Portage District Library, and energized audiences at a fundraising recital at Trinity.

  • Honors: Invited to perform at the Kalamazoo Community Arts Awards at KVCC, celebrating the city’s creative spirit.

  • Finale: A Celebration of Celebrations — Closed the season at Trinity Lutheran with a multicultural program honoring Diwali, Yalda Night, Hanukkah, and Christmas through music and story!
